Black currant jam with chocolate

  • 4 cups black currants, washed and stemmed
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 oz. dark chocolate, finely chopped


  1. Combine black currants, sugar, water, and lemon juice in a large pot. Stir well to combine.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and the berries have broken down.
  3. Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool slightly. Use an immersion blender or food processor to puree the jam until smooth.
  4. Add the chopped chocolate to the warm jam and stir until the chocolate is melted and well combined.
